The end of the School Year in Korea

Today conclude our first year in Korea, or at least my first contract with my primary school as an English teacher. It is also the last day of the school year in Korea. Yes, it seems a little bizare to us solar-calendar-following-westerners. Here in the east the lunar calendar is traditionally followed and this weekend is the start of a new lunar calendar or the Chinese New Year as we commonly know it.

Shilla Dynasty Roofs

These are some shots taken at the Shilla Millenium Park at Kyong-ju in the south east of S. Korea. They have more Japanese influence in their construction, due to its location (quite close to Japan).

Pottery Urinals and Hand basin

Busting for a leak, I came across these fascinating installations. I just had to give them a go, worked quite well and beats the boring standard white ones. Then it was time to wash the hands, in an equally fascinating basin installation.

Korean Wood Carving

1. Damn, they make the food hot here!
2. Meet my Korean mother and father-in-law.
3. Soju (Rice whisky) does that to ya!
